Mr Ignacio Darnaude Rojas-Marcos
SEVILLE - SPAIN
Sir:
Allow us a new disturbance of your freedom, by forcing you once again to read this missive, which is a complement to our last letter.
In recent times we have maintained the rule of refraining from sending reports to humans not affiliated to legalised societies that accept our request to commit themselves not to destroy them, for we think that in the future they might constitute a valuable documentary heritage bearing witness to these strange relations between you. But in you there concur experiential features of sufficient weight to allow us to modify that disciplinary criterion slightly.
For reasons familiar to you and to us, you undertook the task of analysing the court records related to my brothers' stay in Albacete, with a level of impartiality and method (within the scant means at your disposal) which we judge commendable.
Do not think, Mr Darnaude Rojas-Marcos, that we are trying to flatter you. That is not our style, nor would you, in your dignity, tolerate it from us. Naturally, the context of the facts related to our existence among you is so murky and full of unknowns for any impartial observer of Earth that any intelligent brother of yours must be forced to define his opinion on the matter with all kinds of reticence and mental reservations.
No hearing can be given to the statements issued by some strangers who, moreover, assert something so abnormal in the channels of the logic familiar to you, and so foreign to orthodox conceptions in your cultural milieu, as that they come from a distant cold star.
It is well imprinted in our cortico-ethical processes that we are not trying, with our following paragraphs, to coerce you into accepting our version. What proofs do we provide that we are not lying to you? That is why, with rational humility, we tell you that we are not trying to force you to accept the plausibility of our account. You have shown sufficient freedom of judgement not to let yourself be influenced by one more letter of anonymous origin. But nor do we believe that it will be an offence to your own integrity of reasoning if, by way of curiosity, we extend for you, to the limits we can develop it without affecting our security rules, a fragmentary account of the facts linked to our stay in Albacete in those years.
Whether or not this clarifies obscure points (for you and your brothers) concerning that story naturally depends on the degree of acceptance you give to our text. For some who accept the reality of our existence without much critical spirit, it will constitute a kind of dogma.
For you and other intelligent brothers of yours who, with rational instruments of judgement, distrust our testimony, the clarifications that follow will be described as sterile.
All that remains to us, then, is the hope that you, led by your investigative spirit and without spurious influences, may reach the truth by yourselves and, then comparing it with our paragraphs, may accept their identity with scientific impartiality.
Unfortunately we can do nothing other than vouch for the truth of our information.
The information I send you is a copy of a document sent to a brother of yours in Bilbao.
Permit us, Mr Rojas, to express to you our most genuine respectful greetings, and extend them to your family and brothers scattered in BARCELONA, BILBAO, MAIRENA DE ALCOR, MADRID and OVIEDO, who with understandable surprise follow our news attentively.
